Curious Kids is an early learning centre conveniently located just outside Lynn Mall Shopping Centre, with underground parent parking and easy access to public transport.

Curious Kids is a family owned and operated childcare centre which caters for children from 0-6 years.

Sheereen, Tina (Centre Manager) and their team are very committed to working with you – our families and our community, for the benefit of your children.

We believe that every child is unique with endless possibilities. It is our privilege as educators to develop your child and to find their talents and prepare them for their next steps in their learning journey.

Our inspirations

Using loose parts and natural resources within our environment encourages the children to learn through real life materials, to explore and make sense of the world around them. Loose parts consist of everyday objects that you would see in the real world and around the home. This type of play encourages open ended learning experiences where imagination is key.

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and continue to strive for an environment that nurtures and extends children to be active participants in their learning and to experience this through touch, movement, seeing, hearing and listening.

Whanau and community play an integral role within our centre as we view the child as a whole encompassing their world around them. Parent/teacher collaboration is most important, we invite and encourage your participation within our centre environment as we work together.

Our centre is influenced by Magda Gerber’s RIE Philosophy of Respect for and Trust in the child to be an initiator, an explorer and a self-learner. This means our environment is physically safe, emotionally nurturing and also cognitively challenging. Time for uninterrupted play and freedom to explore, while interacting with other children plays a vital role in learning. We encourage our children to be active participants, to take part and be involved in all aspects of their care and learning environment.

Emmi Pickler's approach also inspires us -  being based on kind, respectful relationships between adults and infants, through tender and gentle care moments, free movement and uninterrupted play experiences. The relationship between the teacher and child creates respectful care moments along with respect for the child in an unhurried environment, allowing natural development  in their own time and at their own pace. Peaceful, caring, loving teachers make all the difference in how a child views the world around them and future learning experiences to come.

We are at the very heart of your child’s learning journey and feel honoured you have chosen us to be a part of this special time in both theirs and your lives.
